EARLY LIFE OF CAETANO VELOSO
Veloso was born on August 7, 1942, in Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia, Brazil. He was from a lower-middle-class family. He was the son of Jose’ Teles Veloso and Claudionor Viana Teles Veloso, famous as Dona Canô. He married Andrea Gadelha on 21 November 1967 with whom he had a son Moreno and a daughter Júlia (Júlia died after 11 days of birth). The couple got separated in 1983. Caetano married Paula Lavigne in 1986, with whom he had two more sons, Zeca Lavigne Veloso and Tom Lavigne Veloso. At an early age, he started playing guitar. In childhood, he concentrated on music, although he was interested in filmmaking and literature.

In 1960, his family shifted to Salvador to facilitate his high school education. He pursued his academic journey in philosophy at the Federal University of Bahia.
CAREER
Bossa Nova style was a great inspiration for him in childhood. At 23, he moved to Rio de Janeiro with his sister and joined ‘Philips Records’. In the 1980s, he got publicity outside of Brazil, especially in Greece, Portugal, France, and Africa. His albums, like “Estrangeiro” released in the United States, significantly increased his audience.
