career after retirement
She decided to retire in 2004, after the Olympics. After her retirement, she changes her path from being an athlete to a politician. Since her retirement, she has been playing the role of vice-president at the Russian Gymnastic Federation.
After having a successful career as an athelet, she also shines in politics. She acts as a member of the International Federation of Gymnastics Athletes’ Commission from 2005 to 2008. Along with this, she was elected to the Russian State Duma (Parliament) in 2003 and 2007. In Duma’s Youth Affairs Committee, she is deputy chairwoman.
She also took part in some media. In 2008, she was a gymnastics commentator on the channel Russian TV station NTV+. Olympic Winter Games, held in Sochi, Russia, Khorkina was an ambassador of it in 2014.
